"AMITY"

The story of this song is both interesting and comical.  We begin at a scheduled jam at Michael's house.  The digital recorder was set up and ready to record whatever spur-of-the-moment ideas we hashed out.  After experimenting with several of our already completed songs to see how they would sound with hand drums, I stumbled onto a little riff.

At first, this riff was just shrugged off as doodling and we continued to jam other bits of music.  It wasn't until Mike had to run to the bathroom for twenty minutes (har har) that I started playing with the riff idea.  I found a way to add bass notes while continuing to play the melody with my right hand.  When Mike returned, he realized what I had stumbled upon and we got right to it.

After we reached a certain point, it was evident that the song called for a bridge.  Coincidentally, Mike had to run to the bathroom for yet another twenty minutes--just enough time for me to hash out a rough bridge!  We played through the piece once while recording live into his digital recorder.  After listening back, we decided that the piece could've been done better, so we re-recorded live once again and the piece was finalized.

Amity means friendship - it was an appropriate title after the way Mike and I captured such a great vibe between us.
